Cruz reader wifi connection problems?

i just got a cruz reader by velocity micro for christmas and i am already having a major problem with it... for some reason it will not connect to my wifi internet. the device detects my wifi and i have the correct password saved but it still will not connect.. this is very frustrating!! when trying to connect, the status changes between, and in no particular order, "not connected", "obtaining ip address", and "connecting", but it never actually connects to the wifi... ive looked at the manual that came with the device which was absolutely no help at all since it doesnt have any instruction whatsoever on what to do in this situation.. i also went on the website to find help and all the suggestions online were basically just about making sure the device is set to the correct settings, which it is so thats not the problem.. i am really thinking about just returning the device but i figured i would first try to see if anyone else has had this problem or if anyone knows how to resolve this problem... please help and give very detailed and easy to understand instructions if possible =]. thank you
