Crushing can chemistry design lab?

Ok My Chemistry teacher has given an IB design lab to do on the crushing of a tin can using the condensation of water vapour, which is heated and displaces the air. Once its heated; the vacuum created allows the external pressure to crush the can, while it is under water.

I need some advice on wht element to gather data on, and what to explore. It seems so open ended, and I don't see what variables there are etc. Help please
