Cruise Control Quit Working

Mine does that too. Brake switch is the culprit on mine and I ended up shooting a dab of Jb weld on the tab of the brake handle because i learned the switch was shortened a bit by my in attentive re assembly of brakes. Still shuts down when i hit a good bump but otherwise it works fine.

Thanks for all the info! i am going to try to get to it sometime today and hopefully test it out on my way home from work. Doesn't sound like it will cost too much to fix either way. (brake switch or throttle cable.)

My 2010 SG cruise control started acting up after my 1000mi service. It works fine for the first 30 minutes of riding but then the 6th gear indicator light goes out and the cruise quits working. I can turn the ignition off/on and it works again. I had the dealer adjust the clutch internally when serviced. The bike now has 1400 miles total. Any thoughts?

....... you guys ROCK !
.... My cruise just quit on me in the middle of a ride right after the 1st of the year and i've been toughin' it out holding the throttle for 3 mo. now. Then i see this post, read Dustball's advice, look up 'Cruise Control' in my svc. manual & start pullin' connections.
....... took a ride up Ute Pass this afternoon, hit the cruise switch, pulled on the 'Set' button & dammit if the green light didn't come on & the bike stay @ 60.
............ thank you, thank you, thank you HDForum posters !

It was the cable. I disconnected it and now the cruise works, except of course the throttle roll-off feature. But, it WORKS so I'm happy. Thanks, you guys know everything.

i went riding with a friend who was riding in front of me. his brake light was flashing on and off, so when we stopped i asked him how long his cruise control has been out of order. he asked me how i knew his cruise was not working. i told him about his brake light going goofy, and sure 'nuff, he'd swapped levers and did not use the correct procedure protecting the plunger for the brakelight switch. see, the cruise is disengaged via the brake light switch.
