Crossroads: Waiting for next N-Series to come here in North America or Go Win Mobile?

I think I am loosing faith in nokia. I have loved their phones for years but it seems as though the US market is being forgotten when it comes to their flagship phones.

I currently have the n93 which is an awesome phone but the lack of 850Mhz is annoying.

I was looking forward to the n95 but it seems like its taking forever to come out!

I just want the n95 which quad band support and 3g support in the US. I know the n95 will not work with cingular's 3g network. So I am dissappointed and i'm actually considering a windows mobile device.

I friggin hate windows mobile but it looks like thats the only choice in the US market. It is dominating the US smart phone sales even though it sucks!

I guess my question is.. Should I give up on nokia and join the Windows Mobile herd or should I hold out for the n95 even though it is lacking 3g support?

Come on Nokia all I want is a kick *** nSeries phone, is that too much to ask!

My wife's razr is dieing fast and she is lusting after my n93 and I need something new from nokia ASAP!

I'll comment that after my 6682 died, I went with a treo 700wx for about 3 months. The software was randomly slow (causing random, unnecessary frustration), had no one-handed operation to speak of, and the use of a stylus was a major hassle having gotten used to symbian's easy one-handed operation.

You could also customize it to look like practically anything, but I suffered even bigger speed issues, so had to remove them.

Anyway, I sold it on ebay, went back to symbian, and I'm very happy again. My trip to another platform reinforced my preference for a symbian based phone.

The End.

I felt the same way, but after getting a 8525 & treo750 i realized the 3g isnt as important to me than an Better overall device, and the nokia renders full web pages, i wish it had 3g, but it has better radio, screen, camera, video, and does everything they do. Just my 2 cents

if not having us 3g ALONE is enough to convince u to leave s60 and get to wm, then pls do so. You cant wait to get back to s60 soon enough. Trust me~

I've been in the same situation. I've tried three Windows Mobile devices, the SMT 5600, 8125, and the BlackJack. None of them lasted longer than a week. I go through absurd amounts of data on my N73, and I've been pining for 3G on an S60 for as long as anyone, as Dallas was one of the first markets to get 3G from Cingular.

But I agree, you'll go to WinMo, and you'll come back. The stability, the lack of multimedia apps, the inability to copy and paste (non-touchscreen), the inability to automatically sync via bluetooth without user interaction, and the inability to do nearly anything without it being connected to the computer.

hrm... I left symbian and have been on winmo for about a month or so. I hated it initially, but forced myself to dive full into it (instead of saying "symbian had this, and symbian had that") It's kind of grown on me. I am on windows 1.) because I am waiting on the e90 and 2.) There are no symbian devices with a full qwerty and cam except for the e70 (which I don't like the non traditional keyboard layout).

I am not saying windoze is the 1337 OS, but I think when you just focus on only it (and you find a lot of third party software to cover up the initial failings in the OS) it works out not as bad as it could be.

The n75 seemed like it was going to answer all of my needs.. But I just found out it is missing wifi.. Seriously I can't win. Wifi isn't really that important it just helps when using the podcatching software while charging.

See, I see three problems with this:

1. "I hated it"
2. "Forced myself to..it"
3. "Grown on me"

If you have to force yourself to use something and allow it to grow on you, you're not enjoying, you're sacrificing and tolerating. I love my S60. Going to other phones only reinforces that love. When I convert friends to s60, the reward is seeing their enjoyment at what their phone can do.

Think of a phone like any other electronic. They're supposed to be a fun purchase. When I bought my laptop, I loved that it was so much faster, the screen brighter, and it had features like a built-in card reader that I love using it. If I'd bought a desktop that was more affordable but didn't have these things, I'd grow to hate it, or tolerate it, and always look longingly at the laptops when I go to Best Buy. There's no need to punish yourself into an inferior product.
