Cross country bike trails.?

I'm having trouble finding a bike path that extends from the west coast to the east coast of the U.S.A. I'm located in northern Illinois near Chicago and I would like to embark on 2 Bike trips where one takes me to the east coast and the other takes me to the west coast. Is anyone aware of any bike trails that can do this?
