~ "A Good Friend" ~

He was tinnier than a keyhole on a doorknob
He could hardly be seen at all
Always tuning into our conversations
In the evenings when I was alone
I wanted to hear what he had to say
He wasn't a rat or anything close to that
Although he had four paws
He wasn't purely brown or white or black or any color
I decided to take him out of the house for a while
He had been there for quite some time
But he had to stay in a jar
Soon we found a nice place to drink at
I was surprised to see my friend Carrel there
I had meant to take the jar with me
When I looked back it was gone
Washed and in the sink***
