I FORGOT MY NAME

"I'm leaving without you if you don't hurry up," Darrell threatened. He swung the car keys around his fingers and sat on the bottom step of the stairs. "We're gonna be late!"
I rushed down the stairs, pulling on a blue sweater and trying not to trip. I grabbed my bag from the couch. "Ready!"
Darrell pulled me close to him. "You look beautiful in that color," he whispered. He smiled.
"School?" I reminded him jokingly.*
I pulled my cell phone from my back pocket and realized Gabriel had tried to call me three times in the last ten minutes. I called him back. "Hello!" he nearly shouted into the phone.
"Hey, what's up, little bro?" I said as Darrell sat back down on the stairs. He cast me an impatient glare.
"I saw him! He was walking down the street. I thought it was weird cause he was headed away from the high school and-"*
I cut Gabriel off.*"Slow down. Who?"
"The kid Darrell was talking to in the backyard."
I cast a worried glance at my boyfriend, still sitting impatiently. "Okay, Gabriel. We'll talk about it later," I said, trying not to sound suspicous to Darrell. I hung up. "Okay, let's go."
We got into Darrell's run down truck and he turned on the heater. "Jesus, it's freezing," he mumbled.
I pursed my lips and avoided eye contact. He knew I was mad at him for lying to me, but he acted like everything was okay.*
I leaned away from Darrell and looked out the window.*All*the*houses*were coated in ice, as well as the road, but the roads had been salted.
We got to school a little before the bell rang and went to find our friends. They were huddling together in a corner if the courtyard.*
Lilah looked up at me. She tried to smile, but her teeth wouldn't stop chattering. "H-H-Hi guys," she said.
Darrell laughed and immeditely started socializing. I just watched him disappear into the crowd.*
Lilah shuffled over to me and studied my face. "Trouble in paradise?"
"What? No." I played innocent.*
"Sure…" Lilah dissapeared into the crowd.
I haven't spellchecked yet.
