Cricket to Launch Android Phone

I thought the battery life would be good when I first read of it, but I haven't been hearing too many good things about it since the phone same out. :(

Is the battery enough to get you through most of the day? How quickly did it die on you?

I think there are different keyboard applications. You might want to try one of them. About the keyboard coming on when reading a text.. I don't know about that.. That must get annoying. I wouldn't want it to come up unless I hit reply. That's weird.

Do you think you could take a couple pictures and a short video outside when it's bright and nice out? It would be nice to see a sample. If you can't, that's understandable too.

The battery will get you through the day as long as you don't have a ton of things running at the same time (i.e., notifications, wifi, bluetooth, instant messengers, etc. Make sure that you have a car charger/extra battery, just in case you are a heavy user.

I know there are other keyboards apps, haven't had a chance to explore them - yet. With regards to the keyboard popping up, as I said it is an annoyance.

I'll take some pictures and a video tomorrow when I have some free time after work.

I'll be sure not to have a lot running when I'm away from a charger. Thanks for the tip.

How is the responsiveness in general, other than the touch screen itself?

.
to get better battery life youll have to get a task manager app. android tends to not exit out programs after you've finished using them. i think the app is called taskiller. you should find a few that dont require root access if you type "task manager" in the market search bar. you will notice a much better battery life if you occasionally manage your tasks.

this info is from personal experience if you or anyone was wondering. i used to have a moto droid on page plus- how i miss her :(
but i dont miss not having data! :D
cant wait for the intercept on vm

It's not horrible but could be better, in my opinion.

Another thing is that if you want to use Landscape mode, it only works one way - when holding the phone in portrait mode, turn the phone to the left and it'll happen. If you try to go the other way, nothing happens.

I've done some research on this, and some people say you shouldn't use a task manager and some say you should. I've been using one with results that seems to be a wash. For me more testing is needed on that front, so we'll see.

That's interesting. I read some of the comments at the bottom too. It looks like there is a difference of opinion on whether or not to use a task manager.

That is absolutely amazing compared to my current phone, the Samsung JetSet. I know it's not shocking towards people that have phones like the Evo, but for a cheap phone like the Zio it's great.

Thanks so much for posting! I really appreciate it. I look forward to seeing the pictures later. :)

So, my plan is to wait until november/december to decide what phone i'd like to get. I am still pretty amped about the Zio but one question I have for you guys is why buy the Zio when you can get something like the original Droid which would seemingly be better and cheaper?

I just have a bad feeling that somehow, data will be cut off from non Zio phones at some point. It would be a huge waste of time and money to by a non cricket phone if that were to happen.

not everyone can use the droid. unfortunately the newer markets that are tri-band(ed)[baltimore, chicago ect.] are not able to use a dual band phone on cricket. --> which is the main reason i left cricket.

Thank you so much!

Yes, a review would be great! Make sure you put links to the pictures and video quality of the phone if you can.

Thanks again for posting. :)
