Cricket San Antonio, Tx & Treo 700w

Greetings, All...

I recently decided to get a Treo 700w from a guy that I knew. The phone had been fully flashed when I got it so, it was just a simple matter of calling Cricket and switching over the ESN. I have been using the phone to talk, text, and browse the Net (mostly via Opera Mini 4.1 - which I love.) The phone is really great and I have never enjoyed a phone so much.

I have heard much talk of EVDO in San Antonio, and I believe that the latest I heard about it was that EVDO had been launched here. When I called Cricket to ask them about it, I was told that they had no clue as to what I was referring to. I have called several times, but have decided that I won't get anywhere this way, and have decided to consult the experts.

I guess my questions are few and simple. I'll just post them here:

1. Is my phone capable of EVDO browsing?
2. Is, or isn't, EVDO available through Cricket in San Antonio?
3. What do I have to do to enjoy this feature?

It seems as though this information is closely guarded around here and, if it is, I assure that I will treat it the same. I just really want to try this out for my OWN enjoyment. I can GUARANTEE that the person that helps me out will NEVER hear of me giving the info to ANYONE.

Thanks so much,

:buddies: I got the same treatment through cricket... they had no idea. I read somewhere that all networks will accept the 1050 prl, IF the phone is capable of EVDO.

With that said... There are some hot spots around the city with evdo, but I'm not sure if it's anything official (hope not). I think we might just be getting San Marcos sloppy seconRAB

If this is any help to you I have an lg voyager with the 1050 prl (evdo prl) And when I visited San Antonio my phone did not show any evdo reception only 1x This was around April or May when I went to fiesta in San Antonio

Thanks to both of you for your replies. If there is anyone else around here that has info, please post it here, or PM me. I would be very appreciative.

So, the 1050 PRL, huh? Alright, I'll try it. I will have to find a tutorial on how to alter my PRL somewhere, which shouldn't present too much of a challenge. What I don't get, is that several people have said that there aren't any generic PRLs for EVDO, and that each market has its own area specific code. Can anyone clear this up?

Furthermore, how do I find out if my phone is EVDO capable?

Thanks a lot.

Thanks again for the info.

Actually, I have already downloaded that PRL, but I don't know what to do with it now. Also, I would want to know how to revert back to the PRL that I have now, just in case this goes badly.

Does anyone know how to load this PRL on a Treo 700w?

Thanks again, and I will most CERTAINLY report all of my findings here in full detail.

Unfortunately, it's pretty painful to load PRLs onto Treos, as you need a special cable. If you're interested in picking one up, I'd suggest shooting a PM at randomwit.
