Cricket is launching in Charleston, SC This week

Ordered a line on their website and got the $50 plan with the unlimited 411 and mobile web. I'm psyched!!! can't wait to test the network here and see what sort of coverage they've built out

Cricket doesn't hold a license for the SF Bay Area, besides, that is metroPCS country. Cricket and metro typically don't directly compete with each other as they essentially offer the same service and appeal to the same market segment (only exceptions to date are Merced and Modesto).

I would love to be able to react, but my fone isnt here yet. according to the very nice cricket web people that I talked to, it should ship today via fedex. when i get the fone, I will go driving with it and report back on the service.

it looks like a pretty large coverage area including moncks corner, well north of mount pleasant and then down to about kiawah island to the south. there are more cell towers than people on the peninsula, so im not worried there.

my biggest question is will cricket hold a call from the beginning of 26 out to summerville. only verizon around here can.

i can only guess, but if they use some of the same towers the other use, the coverage should be adequate. nice to know the torch is lit though

here's the cricket map of the charleston market, much larger calling area than I would have anticipated, to be honest...the only thing better would be if it included edisto island, but hey, you can't have everything:

received fone today, customer service was clueless on how to activate it, spoke with 3 different reps, no luck

took it to corporate cricket store...VERY nice people flashed the fone for me and then programmed it. full bars at my house, between 4 bars and 0 bars along 26

prl is 1040

charleston, sc home cricket SID is 6514

impressions of kyocera K323, decent fone, nice finish, good rf, good voice quality

only showing D for digital, so I'm guessing cricket didn't build any 1X here yet

SC,

Where is your home in relation to that map? I mean, are you in the heart of that map or along the fringe? Keep up up to date with the coverage if you can.

The phone is probably programmed to always show "D", even when in an 1x area (if you have KPST, click on the data tab and see whether the "Idle Scrn 3G Data Info" item is set to "True"). It's extremely unlikely that Cricket (or anyone) would build a brand-new system to only support IS-95 and not IS-2000.

must be. it senRAB pix msgs too fast to be on IS-95 only. i'm not sure what KPST is or where to get it or how to use it

I gotta tell you, I honestly have no complaints. I had very low expectations of this kyocera hanRABet and its delivering the gooRAB.

Now that RDH and Burlington have been up and running for over a month, does anyone know which SID(s) Cricket uses in those markets?

Yo im from Phx Az and i have had Cricket or what i like to call it (crap it)... 1st of all the phones are over priced (like nextel). The service is very poor you will drop calls all the time and be in and out of service all the time also. And when trying to call customer service with Cricket well good luck i have tryed i think there is no customer service... But good luck i think they suck the worst

LOL. Here we have what we call "The worlRAB durabest n00b!"

Maybe if you were over 13 years old that'd help. And if you would even understand how they work (i.e They make there money ON THE PHONES. NOT the minutes)

Ahahahaha. You made me laugh today. Thanks, I don't find very many durab n00bs that can do that.

werd. im now on the chas sc cricket plan as well after amp'd fawked me, i flashed my ampd v3m with the alltel flash and im good to go! the local stores told me i had to buy their phone for $200+ to start service! jerks!

anyways the cheap bill is nice!
