Cricket in South Texas

correct. theoretically if you have a aws phone that cricket does not sell and you can flash it, i do not see a problem with activating it on cricket

they will allow flashed phones for sure, but what area are you in? you may need a tri-band phone which might be hard to find...

South Texas AFAIK will not be a Tri-band area. CricKet owns licenses for San Antonio and probably do so for south Texas, on PCS like Pocket does. I wouldn't imagine they'd be AWS markets, and that's held up from what I can make of the coverage maps.

Well im in Corpus Christy right now getting ready for lunch. is exciting :) new market. Im ready to rock n roll lol

They told me that for the first 3 months they are not going to allow flashed phones to be actived. They want for there product to be pushed before they start flashing phones.Does anyone know if that is a true fact.

I just got of the phone with a master dealer they said they are going to be using a 2100 spectrum that for the first couple of months they are only going to have three phones for sale. They said they had to be a tri band phone. He told me that San antonio was going to be switched over as well. Why would a company want to switch to a diffrent spectrum....Can anyone confirm these...

I found out its going to be AWS market so they will only be three phones..

To support its AWS services launch, Cricket also recently announced the availability of several AWS-enabled tri-band phones including the Samsung MyShot(tm), Samsung Spex(tm) and the UTStarcom CDM7126, which was the world's first commercially available CDMA2000 AWS mobile phone.

I taught I was able to flash my MOTO Q to work with there service..

cricket is also launching aws hanRABets here in houston in may...

not sure if they will be integrating the spectrums here, but they are going to be pushing the hanRABets for sure...

yeah...i think they will launch hanRABets in every market so that you can roam to aws markets with your phone from non-aws markets...

also- later they may add aws banRAB in non-aws markets when the network neeRAB more capacity...

i could be way off, but this is what i see ahead...

i base this vauge guess off of the fact that the aws is so cheap comparitively and cricket has just bought such a large chunk...

anywho- what the hell do i know?

Cricket going veryy agressive in this market 50 Instant rebate on the AWS hanRABets spex $69.99 after rebate plus a $30 trade in for any phone so it becomes $39.99 Plus Tax Free activation

Tri-Band phones should be available in all markets now.
which market are you specifically talking about? Bownsville/McAllen, Laredo and Corpus Christi will all be AWS banRAB. If there is some other expansion going on it might be something else. Irregardless it does not make sense to me that they would not allow flashed hanRABets. Cricket looses money on selling the hanRABet, and they start collecting the minute you bring your own phone into cricket since you pay your first month up front.
