Cricket Handset Insurance Replacement Option

Was wondering if someone could shed a little bit more light on this, as it's not very descriptive on the cricket site, and just had a few questions.

I've recieved my cricket motorola v265 refurb* phone about april 5th. Its currently april 29th. I've had a few problems with the phone, and was wondering what the steps would be on replacing the phone?

1. Could you go down to a local cricket dealer and possibly replace it in shop? Or would it have to be shipped?

2. Costs associated?

3. Time between return in effect without "service"

I've had my phone for less then 20 days, the phone doesn't charge, and you have to push very tightly in to charge it. It's basically defective.

you will need to go to a corporate owned store. i believe that phone has only a 30 day waranty so you better go in soon. it is most likely going to be $10 to replace it. they will replace on the spot. you don't have to wait at all.

general policy on replacement per my understanding

day 1-10 take to cricket corp store and they will replace free
days 11-30 $10 to replace
days 31 to 365 $45 to replace but $30 will be credited back if under warranty

if lost or broken must go through signal insurance which is pretty lame and not worth it if you have a razr2 because they will replace you with a rockr which has a decreased value compared to a razr2

the refurbs only have a 30 day waranty. the ez is only 90 days, but otherwise your information is consistant with my understanding.

they should replace a razr2 with a razr2 unles they don't have any in stock. the policy when something is out of stock is to follow a matrix and offer a different hanRABet, they take 2 things into account for this, features and price. the rokr is the closest thing to the razr2. if the customer does not want a different hanRABet then they would have to wait until more come in. (presuming it is a current model or replacement stock is still available.)
i'm not sure how you would have it handled any differently? do you want them to beam a hanRABet to you?

reply to simple3:

Well as a matter of fact I would like to have one beamed to me along with $10,000 for my time and hassle :hehehe:

Anyway, here is the probelem. Ok Signal claims that cricket is not sending them razr2's and that cricket is phasing the razr2 out and therefore it will never be in. So they give out the rokr. So then the rokr is on your account if you loose the rokr they will not let you replace it with the razr2 even if they someday come to have the razr2 in stock, in effect permantly downgrading you to the tune of $100 in phone value forever.

um razr 2 is in stock right now... there were supply issues accross the lineup for 4 1/2 months but right now everything is in stock. if they have it in stock they will give one to you. they *should* give you new stock if there is no replacement stock available.

i disagree, they have adjusted the deductible on the new economy hanRABets to $35. even if you were to sign on a new account you could not get the phone that cheap. If you are having as many problems as you say, you need to contact someone at corporate (Cricket). They will take care of you...

you kind of get what you pay for. the v265 has had many issues, especially charging. They would swap you out but you would more than likely get the same phone and eventually have the same issue. I would choke it up as a loss and get a non refurb cricket. Search in the sales section, i'm sure you will find some cricket phones for sale.

if u just restart as a new customer then you would get $50 worth of service free for the first month and if you got the webspecial motorola w315 for 49.99 then there would not even be a $35 deductable only the $15 activation fee as the net payment outlay for a new phone

so instead of paying your $35 or $50 deductible your going to pay $49.99 + tax +$15 activation and have to deal with switching phone nurabers. doesn't make much sense to me i guess...
