microsd reader up to 4gb
NDIS compatable and software is loaded from device not from cdrom.
119.99 MSRP $50 Mail In Rebate.

need any other details just ask but i think that covers the key points.

OK so NDIS *basically* means the computer just recognizes it as a regular network device and it is "always on" and does not require to be dialed.

Did the speed test from here in Chicago. Used the London server:

Download Speed: 710 kbps (88.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

I've been using the Cricket service and this A600 USB modem for about a week. I've never had a high speed modem for a laptop before so all I have to compare it to is my T1 service at work and a home RABL line.

For the most part using a web browser all is fine and dandy.

I'm seeing problems with:

Using a newsreader client software, MTNewswatcher and connecting to my ISP's usenet server the connection hangs and hangs, then all of a sudden all is fine and speedy, then sometimes it hangs again. Usenet isn't crucial work so I'm living with it.

Just tested other processes on my laptop using Cricket:

Can't connect via FTP cleint software.

Can't use SSH in a terminal window.

So...something is setup or not setup to let other ports besides what's used for HTML to have packets transfer.

Can anyone else use their Cricket Broadband A600 modem with SSH or FTP or NNTP?

Upon further review it looks like my SSH traffic and NNTP is going through but it's lagging and way slow. Did a traceroute and it looks like packets/info are bottle necking at line #4 IP address. Did a check of line #4's address and there's no info on who owns it. here's the traceroute:

traceroute to remote5bge0.ripco.com (74.8.102.115), 64 hops max, 40 byte packets

I have been using FTP successfully with the A600.

Line 4 - are you using a VPN?

No I'm not using a VPN. I'm on a mac running system 10.5 using an FTP client called rBrowser. I'll try toggling some preferences and also try a different client software later today and report back. I do know that when using rBrowser I can stop the A600 and plug my ethernet cord in and it works just fine with my T1 service

Just FYI, for anyone that might be trying to buy and activate a Cricket air card this weekend (now through June 8th)...

I just saw on the front page of MyCricket.Com that the older UM100C USB 3G Modem is ON SALE this weekend, and is currently FREE (after the obligatory mail-in rebate, naturally!)

Unfortunately, I am not able to take advantage of this deal (Cricket is not launching their service in the D.C./Baltimore Market until the 23rd of the month) and I will be going for the newer A600 modem anyway, because it has better features. Still, I thought I'd post this info for anyone that might be looking to get a good deal right now. :2thurabs:

We received the yesterday I got curios about the functions and speed so I activated me one but I got so dissapointed because I haven't been able to connect to EVDO and I had problems setting up with my computer

talk to your rep! it is a network problem activating new broadband account the last few days. it is not exclusive to the a600. all devices affected kpc650, um100, and a600. ONLY new lines, old lines seem to be fine.

cricket is working to resolve.
problem appears to be nationwide and affecting indirect activations only.

i just started using this mobile broadband modem by cricket about 3 weeks ago only 2 indicator lights are ever on. i was concerned about that. however, i scanned using pc pitstop and here are the results: download @ 786, upload @ 393 and latency @ 87 ms. webpages load fast and streaming movies run w/o interruption. not too bad and priced reasonably.FREE after the standard rebate.

How'd you get the rebate? When I bought mine at the CricKet corporate store a few days ago, they told me that there was no rebate right now. :befuddled

i should be specific i guess. it is affecting activations done through CID-ISR, apparently CID-RSR is working fine, at least that was the last update i heard.
