Crash is Oscar Best Picture

Finally Crash won the Oscar for Best Picture. I was little nerved when Ang Lee won the Best Director. I don't like Brokeback Mountain to win the Best Picture.
what do you say guys?

For complete Oscar 2006 results.

The right result IMO. Well, the right result for me would have been The Constant Gardener, but seeing as it wasn't nominated that was always going to be difficult. Of the two possible contenders, Crash was superior to BM.

I agree with gashead.

I'm pleased that Crash won :) I was worried it would be overlooked. I've seen four of the five films nominated for Best Picture and it was Crash that had the biggest impact on me.

Am so delighted by Crash getting the nod.

It's one of the best films I've ever seen and its nice to see a good spread with no one film sweeping the boarRAB.

IMHO this makes the Oscas so much more relevant.

Also, since the Wonderful Reese W won best acrtess, it's nice that her hubby Ryan Phillipe saw a tiny piece of the action too, as he was in Crash.

Brokeback Mountain wouldn't have been Brokeback Mountain without "Gay" Cowboys. Without the homosexuality it would have been nothing, in that it uses taboo to excel itself as "reputable" film.

I think it was just an ordinary film in comparison whilst, Crash, well, this is a film that I feel can affect everyone and that is purely in the film making.

This is a ridiculus comment. Ofcourse it would have been nothing without the homosexuality as that's what the film is about. The whole story revolves around this. It's not something that was just thrown into the story to excel itself.

You could say the same about Crash that it would be nothing wihtout the racial tension in it and that it uses this tension as a taboo to excel the film as reputable.

I loved both films but just strongly disagree with your comment about Brokeback.

I love Crash and I'm happy it won.

But you know, its the Oscars! Possibly my fav film of all time (The Shawshank Redemption) didn't win one.

So I take the Oscars with a pinch of salt.

Brokeback Mountain is far superior to any of it's fellow nominees and the Oscars have cemented themselves as a complete and utter joke. One of the best films ever made, and they fail to credit it. Best Director? Of all it's nominations, best director is the one it least deserved to win. What a total farce.

Mind you. They awarded Halle Berry best actress, so it's not like they know what they're talking about is it!?

Bafta are far more capable of rewarding the deserving.
