My fiance and I are getting married at the court house but his family wants a "real" wedding. I want to please them because they have been very good to me,is it stupid to have a "fake" wedding? All the fun and celebration without the stress.

I am going to a wedding like that today! The couple got married by the JP so that they could get the increased military pay. I guess it isn't stupid if it would make your family who you love happy.

The invite I got says:
X and Y were married Date
By a Justice of the Peace
in Location

Now they would like to share the experience with their friends and family.
Please join us for this celebration.

The next page:
You are invited to the wedding reaffirmation of
X and Y

(date, info, etc)

We ran off to Las Vegas for our wedding then had a reception for our family and friends when we got back. That seemed to keep everyone happy.

Same "Marriage Certificate" either way, find a compromise to keep parents happy, if possible. BTW no wedding should be fake, take the vows seriously, even if repeated for an audience. How about a small house wedding with a minister, instead of judge?
