Court attendance! And a school trip.?

I am trying to find out, well the brief story is. There are 3 children attending court to give evidence against a man! Though the court case has been known about for some time and is in 7 days time. There has been a double booking.
Meaning one of the children are attending a week long school trip on the day of the court appearance. This was totaly forgot about as was booked a long time ago.
What i am aiming at finding out, is there anyway that the child (parents) could "speak to the court" and the evidence maybe read out on the childs behlaf?
Is there anyway way round not attending court? Or would/could they postpone the trial? I know its not as easy as just changing the date's.
But would like any information on how i could handle this so the child does not miss the trip which was also very costly? And i understand the court procsess is too.

Any help would be great. Thanks
I think the apperance will come first too. I am merely trying to se if there is a way round it. :-( And i know the court will not really be "interested" Due to the nature of the trial. But worth a phone call to check.
