I've been recommended to write about the French colonial period as a topic for my long piece of A2 French coursework (Edexcel), as it would compliment the History A Level I'm doing. Over the Christmas holidays I need to pick a specific analytical title for the coursework, apart from I haven't got any idea about what this could be...
I've researched the topic, but I know I'm a bit stupid to accept to do the topic because it all seems really difficult to write 1000 words on it and draw analytical conclusions. I suppose what I'm asking is: during the two French colonial empires, were there any big issues that had a SIGNIFICANT IMPACT ON FRANCE ITSELF?
A suggested title I've been given is "Est-ce que la période de colonialisme française était une époque de réussite pour la France?" (Was the French colonialism period a time of success for France?), but I'm finding this hard to tackle because there seem to be very few relevant sources of information...
