The Eastern Front of WW2 was the bloodiest battle in human history. But most military action movies are set in the Western Front and Normandy Landings like "Saving Private Ryan".Could you recommend any good movies about the battle of the Nazi German army and the Red Army in the Eastern Front?

Without a doubt, Enemy at the Gates. Its like Saving Private Ryan. And also its a classic sniper duel movie. Jude Law plays a sniper who is a hero to the Russians while Ed Harris is a sniper for the Nazis and is trying to kill him to take away the Russian's pride. Great movie. Highly recommended.

"Stalingrad" depicts the battle of Stalingrad. For the Russians, it was the event that turned the war around similar to the Normandy Landing. Germans were on their way to Moscow almost unopposed. Stalin had vowed "Stalingrad shall hold". Hold it did at the cost of millions of lives. But the German Army ended up cornered, their supply line cut. General Von Paulus finally capitulated with a hundred thousand famished and freezing german soldiers. I read all that from the book and saw the movie as well. Either are well worth reading or viewing.

I recommend "Cross of Iron", "Enemy at the Gates" or "Stalingrad".BTW, Eisenhower was not a Field Marshall. That rank does not exist in the U.S. military. He was a General Of The Armies (5 star general).
