Could you recommend 35mm SLR for studying photography?

Well, I loved to play with my father's automatic point ans shot 35 mm, and have been using point and shot digicams for years.... but now I'm really interested in learning the manual process of photography through 35 mm SLR's, and need to know which ones are the best cameras for my purpose...I've heard wonders about the Pentax K1000, the Canon AE-1, some Nikons, etc... but I'm not really sure.
Any suggestion will be highly appreciated!

Pentax K1000 is one of the best options, since it has a strong body and quality components. It's also nice because normally you can get one a little cheaper than the Nikons and Canons and it rivals them in every aspect...
Best of luck with your shots!

If you want to eventually move to a DSLR camera and be able to use the lenses from your 35 mm SLR, you will have to forget the Canon AE-1. None of the fine lenses made for that system will work on the Canon EOS cameras.

Pentax and Nikon on the other hand have interchangeability between their older 35 mm SLR's and the new DSLR's

Look on craigslist for good used Nikon, Canon and Pentax cameras that are less than 20 years old They will cost less than $150 with a standard zoom lens.
