We're having our first I.E.P. school meeting, mostly to determine whether one should be put into effect, but also to help transition my daughter back into school. Some of this won't make sense (like the fact she's in Suspension School as a transition, b/c it's small, and she's been having panic attacks at regular school, etc.), but please try to help me write this introductory letter to the school counselor. (I think he might be forwarding it to someone else, tho.)

Dr. Mr. Williams,
Through my online research, I had jotted down various resource ideas that I thought might could be helpful to Vanessa. I am very thankful that the staff was willing to accomodate us by allowing us to meet after school, especially on such a busy afternoon. In an effort to help speed things up, I thought it a good idea to send you a copy of the notes I jotted down. This way, I don't have to sit there and list all of these in the meeting. Rather, perhaps you could go through this and pull out which items you feel might pertain be effective in Vanessa's plan. You are welcome to both draw from these ideas as you see fit, and perhaps add them to your idea.
Please keep in mind that she will be returning from Alternative Suspension School tomorrow, so it will be imperative we continue with a plan to help her transition. Knowing that this evening is Parent-Teacher Night, I wonder what you would think of her meeting with her teachers that she has yet to meet as a way to ease her back-to-school anxiety. Perhaps meeting with them individually will allow her to become familiar with the teacher, the classroom, and the new stimuli that she will encounter when she begins to attend, to help her view them less fearfully.
I am not sure if you are the one I'm supposed to send these ideas to. Please feel free to forward them appropriately.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Taylor
