During the process of silver refining, it has to be put into fire with very high temperature to end up as a shiny flow less accessory. Humans are exactly similar to silver; They have to face hard experiences and setbacks in order to toughen up and for their qualities to appear. This fact is acknowledged by the true lifetime experiences and even by writers in novels.
In the famous French novel "The Count of Monte Christo" Edmond a poor sailor has been betrayed by his best-friend and was sent to a jail on an isolated island where he was tortured both physically and psychologically. There, he discovered his fighting abilities and thinking skills; he set a brilliant plan, escaped the prison and absconded into the dark sea before the guards could notice. Using what he learned in prison,Edmond became one of the richest men in his city. Furthermore he sought vengeance from his traitors.

Without ups and downs and tough times Apple for instance could still be the op in its field but it wouldn't be as advanced as it is right now. Because of the competitions Apple's engineers were to update its products every few months if not weeks. For example because Apple's market share was falling it had to come up with I pod that showed Apple's real potential. And once more when Google was developing Android, Apple came up with I phone 5.
To sum it all up, Hard times and difficulties are what push us forward. Without them, there would have been no motive for us and we would be living our lives passively.
