Could you help an American understand what the word "history" means?

From an answer to my earlier question:

"Why is there no recorded history before approximately 4,000 B.C.? The answer is obvious ... there was no history! Think about it! Evolutionists claim that man evolved over billions of years (that's billions with a "B"). If there were any truth to these false claims by unscrupulous scientists, then man's historical record should span back at least hundreds-of-thousands of years, if not millions."
I know it's not all Americans, but it really feels like it's *only* them.

I'm sorry if I offended anybody (else).

I think they think Apes changed to man about the time of Adam and Even.

I missed the first question, but that answerer is not taking into account that what is meant by history is "recorded" history. Of course the history of our species goes back a hundred, maybe a hundred and fifty thousand years, but writing wasn't common until 3000 years ago or so. However, if you want to include things like the cave paintings at Lascaux or carved pieces of bone and ivory as a type of recorded history, even records in our hand do, indeed, stretch back 30 - 50 thousand years.

There is recorded history before their silly little flood was supposed to happen, but that doesn't bother them.

*facepalm*

it seems they dont know what pre-history is. which is history before writing.

*FACEPALM*
honey go back to school and take the history course...
there was no >>WRITTEN<< history that far back
the Neanderthals and homo erectus's were not smart enough to write yet, thus we EVOLVED from them to the homo sapiens sapiens we are today
but they have found objects (pottery, weapons etc) dating far far far back

*Makes a socked face*

That can't possibly a real answer? I want to laugh but I also don't want to be mean.

I am a Russian and terrible at history. Sigh. I am. It isn't just a certain group from a certain country.

That individualistic person (who, remember could be a troll. We all can be. It the Internet. I have to remind myself a lot of that. Especially on Y!A) has no grasp on what history is or means.

However that has little to do with nationality and more to do with a lack of eduction.

Hey, how do you know that person was American anyway?

There is recorded history approximately 35,000 years old in the Chauvet caves. Paleolithic art....although we cannot interpret it, we do know it was painted by human hands. Also what about the Waldorf Venus? A small carving of a female, seeming to glorify fertility that is about 26,000 years old. What about the early Mesopotamian cities dated to about 8,000 years ago?

Just because it isn't in a book doesn't mean it isn't history. Art was one of the defining ideas of human culture.

There's a difference between America and fundies.

EDIT: It's alright, no harm done. It does kind of seem the Americas are overrun with fundies though, I will agree with that.
