I was thinking about this yesterday - the moon is obviously very important to the workings of the earth (tides, aesthetic value, light at night in case your car dies, etc.)
But how much do we REALLY need it? Imagine if the moon was somehow mysteriously destroyed and the debris did not fall on earth, how would life change for those on earth? Could we survive without it, and if so, how?
