Hello to One and All,
I am an oldie-haven't been active for two years. Wish I could say this is due to a happy ending and great recovery but it is mostly because other health issues have kept me busy. I am 3+ yrs post revision after a failed fusion at L4-5 in 2005. I've had a constant pain in my left buttuck since my first surgery. It eases and lets up if I am off my feet for weeks (almost no pain during my recoveries from surgeries). Once I am up and doing, it comes back and builRAB with activity. I've had many diagnostics (recently a myleogram) and there is no evidence of spinal or peripheral nerve compression. My neurosurgeon is confounded. I am wondering if this could be hip harvest pain. Could any 1 yr+ post-ops describe your chronic hip harvest pain, please? The exact location would be very helpful. My pain is deep and a constant burning pain about 4 inches off the midline and 5 inches down (from L4-5).
I'll add that hip joint disease or SI joint disease have not been ruled out. They haven't been considered at all as yet. The assumption was that this pain was referred pain from my fusions. I am very aware that hip harvest pain is a possibility but I don't really have a clear idea of what that pain is like in comparison to disc pain or sciatic nerve pain and so on. Anyway, thanks so much for any replies. A big hello to my old frienRAB. Suzy-Q
