When I've eaten anything hot or cold for the last week I end up with either my chest aching, back aching or both. Usually these spells last anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. Been having some issues for a while that my doctor attributed to possibly acid reflux and a hiatal hernia. Took Nexium for a month or so which seemed to make everything worse as I was getting chest pain after drinking water sometimes. After I stopped taking it everything seemed better for about a week until I drank a sweet tea with ice rather quickly. Ended up having a somewhat severe ache in my back for about 20 minutes. After eating dinner the next night it seemed to trigger this again but with some chest discomfort. A couple days later I ate some cook and served pudding while it was still kind of hot. That made my chest and everything up to my neck ache. A couple times these episodes have been triggered a few minutes after eating.

I've been having some stomach issues for the last few months. Some of my symptoms include; upper abdomen is tender to the touch, some slight nausea (mainly in the morning), and frequent burping. The burping comes at random times when I'm not expecting it. Sometimes it's like a hiccup followed immediately by a burp. It's strange.

Could these possibly be esophageal spasms or just acid reflux? I have an appointment with a gastro doc coming up soon but would like to know what you all think or if anyone has experienced something similar. Thanks!

I have had, for a week now, discomfort when burping and eating. The discomfort is in my chest about where the opening for my stomach is. Liquid is ok but its food that kind of gives me a heartburn while it passes through.

I am not sure what to do for the best or how long this might last for or exactly what is causing the discomfort.

Cheers Dan.

I would take as many examinations with your doctor as possible to find out what may be causing your symptoms. These include blood test, urine sample, stool sample, upper endoscopy, Electrocardiogram. Upper endoscopy would examine your GI tract including the esophagus. For me, they inserted a fibre scope starting from my mouth which lead to the esophagus, stomach, etc.. The upper endoscopy could examine that part of your chest where the heartburn seems to be occurring, so it can check for any erosion, inflammation, damage etc. If they find something wrong, they may do a biopsy on that part.
