Seems a little less likely. It's been a while since I read the strip and seen Hagar leading his men, but the last one I remember doing that showed both Hagar and his men to all have swords. While it is believable for Hagar as potentially a chieftan (something I don't remember him ever being) to be rich enough to afford a Viking sword, his men wouldn't have carried them. It was far cheaper to carry an axe into battle, and the Vikings were masters of axe fighting.
