My after market stereo I had in my 1997 GMC truck died about a year ago. I bought a used Delco CD and installed. Worked fine for 5 minutes with the ignition on accessories. I started the truck and the stereo died in about 10-20 seconds. Sounded the same way as the previous stereo just before it died. Some static type noise and then nothing. Could it be the 'original' alternator maybe not putting out a clean 14V or something else zapping the stereo?
