Could someone summarize the healthcare debate to me?

My Econ class is constantly debating healthcare. I don't really watch a ton of news, so I don't really get what's going on. Could someone please either summarize the debate in a nutshell, or link me to something that'll help.

I understand we're all partisans here, but please try to keep it unbiased.

What debate? Each party has some kind of proposal. A proposal is not the same thing as a plan. Open discussion is not possible because the plans change, as we speak, and the main thrust by each party is confusing the issues by using multi-definable terms. Neither party seems to understand the issues, anyway.
