Could someone help me to Debunk this odd story/rumor that's been going around recently?

I keep seeing it on here and I'm new, but before I joined I've seen dozens of questions about the event in which a 'nerd' of the stereotypical kind, strangled a kid to death between his legs. The only consistent details were (many of which are from others)

That it happened in Detroit/Michigan.
The so-called geek was of a pale, weak, scrawny physique, 14 years old and wore glasses, and looked like your typical teenage nerd.
The geek was arrested and locked up in a psychiatric unit.
That it was on the news, quoted by users who identified themselves as people who lived in the state where supposed event took place.
Some comments stated it did happen and the other guy was a bully who had bullied the nerd for quite some time
Nerd had kept victim in scissor hold for 10-15 minutes, and it took 5 minutes for said victim to pass out.
When victim's body was found, blood was coming out of his nose and mouth.
Happened in 2007, only quoted from one person.

But then again, reasons this could be a lie;
A nerd wouldn't be strong enough to keep another person IN a thigh-lock for that fatal amount of time.
Witnesses would've intervened.
Victim would've just attacked the nerd and got away.
Would've had an online article if said event were true. I've searched for this case in news archives and everything and had found nothing.
Nerd's name was apparently Melvin. Seems sort of cliche.
And lastly nerd wouldn't have been able to pin the guy down in the first place, let alone initiate that kind of move.
If by chance he COULDN'T get out (which he would've, anyway) he would have just screamed or cried for help.
One person who identified herself as an EMT stated it is medically impossible for it to happen, and the thighs cannot exert enough strength and at that angle to kill someone this way. (The victim was strangled, not choked, which only cuts off air, but the person was still concious for 5 minutes after getting into it)

So yeah, I'm sort of confused but I do like to research into odd stories or hearsay and I would like to know if this is true or false. And yes I've looked on Snopes but can't find anything either. Thanks!
