Could someone help me improve this poem? (add rimes and change some things)?

Leaving the battlefield, I felt doomed by the end of life
I suffered from exhaustion and tried to move forward.
Leaving the shell bursting behind my back and
Trying to forget the terrible things I’ve seen.
All my comrades are walking in slow motion
And some have lost their boots in the battlefield.
We are in an unbearable situation of blood and
Gas surrounding us but we’re alive.
The gas is coming… Everyone shouted GAS GAS!
I succeed to put my mask but one of my man felt on the floor.
I tried to get him up but I couldn’t, I was to tired and couldn’t move
The gas began to be dense and was green like soup.
A cloud built up in front of us.
I couldn’t see any of my comrades.
My legs weighed so much because I was tired.
I was walking behind one of my mates who had collapsed.
You can’t imagine how hard it feels to watch one of your mates suffering to death.
After all I’ve seen and gone through; I can say that dying for your country is not glorious.
I have seen many horrors, blood and my fiends dying in the battlefield.
I end up tired and lonely.
