after the Mexican Earthquake? I am interested in the innate survival skills, the stability and the ability of the newborn's reflexes in the presence of difficult or disastrous situations. I can recall great joy after the devastation when some newborn's were found alive under a collapsed hospital building. I am not sure whether it was the 1985 or 1999. After many years working with newborns and young babies I observe genuine desires of innate ability to survive and that is clearly visible by watching newborn reflexes, body language and the communications skills of these amazing babies. I am concerned for babies who are wrapped tightly, arms in straight jacket positions preventing the instinctive use of survival reflexes such as the morrow/startle, sucking, nurturing and grasp reflex. Babies that are unable to put hands to mouth evenutally become submissive, it is my belief that inhibiting instinctive reflexes they are not primed in the way nature intended and this raises the question of long term effects?
