could my car stop cranking if altornator is bad (01 alero 3.4l)?

had my car jumped off 2Xs once on the way home from work and once before work. my keyless remote works raido dash ect... When i went to jump it for the final time so i could take it to be tested it would not crank, it would idle for about 5 seconds and die, it did that twice. I replace the fuel pump last year the starter 2yrs ago and the battery last year. My guess is its a bad alternator, but i cant crank it (right now) to be sure. would my geuss for an alternator be about right
