Could iPhone 3G soon become Teh Recalled Hotness?

few business partners of mine are all having those issues with their 3g iphone.
AT&T would do nothing to help either. Shitty situation.

I completely understand that electronic devices ahve their issues, but the iPhone is pretty bad for a company whose tag line at one time was 'it just works'. After havign the first iPhone and getting 5 bars at home, it makes me wonder why the new 3G only has 1, and sometimes shows no service.

Turn your 3G off in your iPhone Settings. Voila, you'll instantly have 5/full bars if you didn't before. If you live/are in an area with poor 3G reception, you'll drop calls like it's cool. The minute you turn off 3G and go back to EDGE only, your phone will work great. That's what I do when I'm home. I have wifi at home so not having 3G is no problem if i need to use internet on my phone, which I rarely do, since I have computers at home.

Apple needs to come up with a better way of automatically switching to EDGE when there is a poor/no 3G coverage.

i plan on calling at&t to ask why i have to pay $15 a month more for a feature i get no the opposite of use out of...i'm paying more yet getting more dropped calls than ever and 3g isn't that much quicker than edge (although i will give it to them - it has increased in speed quite a bit since i first got the phone)

btw i got a $25 credit for calling because i've had so many dropped calls and 3g vs edge with the two phones next to each other, my 3g iphone on edge beats out my friends 3g iphone in 3g mode going to regular websites

but of course it's just a call center so it'll be hit and miss depending on who you get - since nobody there knows how to transfer calls i had 3 hangups in a row immediately after waiting on hold (before i could even explain anything) so the final time i just asked for the guys name and to speak to his manager

i just found out another friend went to the apple store, they looked at his account and could tell that he had roughly 30% of his calls dropped so they gave him a new phone - i have many more dropped calls than he does so i'll give them a try tomorrow

The issue isn't with AT&T's network, it's the iPhone itself. All my other 3g phones work just fine. I hope there is a recall.....also I just noticed two hairline cracks in my phone

Buddy of mine has an Iphone for personal use and an 8525 on ATT for business use.
I will call his personal number and the iphone sounds like utter shit, static, breakups. So call his work phone and it's clear as a bell. Same location.

Happens all the time with him.

Guarantee you are not making 3G Voice calls. your phone will say 3G, but that is for data transmission. all your Voice calls are still over GSM. this is a fcc restriction right now

Uh, maybe because 3G is not as widespread as EDGE at the moment. Some places don't even have 3G coverage. Give it time people, it will only get better. In the mean time, quit yer bitching.
