It's in this style http://www.happyreptile.com.au/images/products/28-large.jpg except it doesn't have a display light there and there's a cage around the heat bulb to stop the snake from touching it. The tank is 2' x 4' x 2' that's 120 US gallons.
It comes with a 60 watt red heating bulb, but I was hoping to use a ceramic heat emitter so that the light won't disturb my snake's sleeping habits (and mine) but will still warm up the tank.
My question is - Would it be safe to use here?
I've heard that the bulb gets VERY hot so you don't want to use it inside the enclosure in case your reptile burns itself. In this case, there would be a cage around it which doesn't conduct heat well and the holes are too small for my snake to weave through. Also it would be on the ceiling about two feet away from the snake I'll have, which is a woma python. They aren't supposed to be climbers, but I wouldn't have any driftwood under it just in case...
Is it still unsafe?
Any help is welcome, even just opinions! If you have any experience with ceramic heat emitters then that would be even better! THANK YOU!
