i have this classics essay coming up
and to make things more complicated, one of my classmate asked this question:

Does one compare the authors of the selected passages, or the content?

prof's answer:
Both...focus on comparing your different time periods and cultures on the same theme, but pay attention to the stylistics of the authors. Since students will be choosing different passages and authors, much depends on what is appropriate for the selections. Some passages are not by famous authors, and so analysis does not depend so much on the stylistics.

my topic is comparing society in ancient greece and ancient rome....
but the passages that i have read doesnt talk about the artist's style...it was just realll descriptive about daily life.

therefore could i just talk about content and just exclude comparing passages?

thanks!
