Could I buy a Us Cellular phone that originally needed a data plan and activate...

...the phone not have data plan? The guy had U.S. Cellular and left for another company and is selling the phone. It is a nice phone that had a data plan, but I don't want it for data plan. My phone broke, so could I activate the phone, or would they make me get a data plan for it?
 
Hi.It really depends on the phone you are talking about.if it is a smart phone or PDA phone,then you'll need a data plan on it
