Could Ghostbusters work in anime or classic 2d ?

Well, not to be a smart ass, but technically, it already WAS an anime first time around...at least animation wise...

I'd like to see it come back with art as cool as the first season of He-Man 2002 or TMNT 2003.

If they did do an Anime version I think the humour and goofyness of the films might be slighty lost design-wise, a serious version of the Ghostbusters might be somewhat strange.

If anime like Fushigi Yugi taught me anything, is that a serious cartoon can break out in cartoony moments with no problems at all.

I rather they don't try to make it in anime or CGI. It'll look very gimmicky.

My vote would be hand drawn or CG animation over anime. There's just no reason for a Ghostbusters animated feature to be made as an anime. GB is an American franchise, therefore, it should be USAnimated, IMO. I could deal with a CG Ghostbusters feature, particularly if it were done in the TMNT style.

Unless someone here has a direct Dan Aykroyd connection, no one knows what became of the CGI GB3 announcement.

That was almost a year and a half ago..

Well, the GB game, and a possible DVD release (not those compilation discs that were released two years ago) are on the horizon, so a movie and new animated series aren't completely out of the question.

It sounds like the game IS going to be the CG GB3. Not quite what we were expecting, but from what little they've shown thus far it looks pretty darn cool. The script for the game is written by Ayckroyd and Ramis, and they've even got Bill Murray on board to voice Venkman.

As for RGB on DVD, there's not a lot of info at this point, though there is SOMETHING coming out on DVD in the near future. By this point in time, I'm REALLY hoping it's proper boxed set releases of the show ala He-Man, Thundercats, etc. The only solid news about it thus far is that it WON'T be Sony releasing the DVDs (their kids division is who we have to thank for the lackluster random episode DVDs from a few years ago). Fingers crossed!
