sentence1: My passion for mastering a second language never contradicts my love for my mother tongue.
sentence2: My passion for mastering a second language is never contradictory to my love for my mother tongue.
I want to know, if in a debate situation, could both be used. Because I've been told by native speakers that the more concise the sentence structure, the more powerful the meaning it conveys, which suggests to me that sentence1 is more suitable to use in a debate where powerfulness and forcefulness are necessary, but does it mean I cannot use sentence2? If I use sentence2, would it sound too weak to you?
Hope I can get some insights into this kind of word choice from native speakers.
Thank you so much.
