Let's pretend that there was a war between the U.S. and China (without the use of nukes). The U.S. would have advantages in the sea and air, and would most likely be victorious on these levels. However, the Chinese ground troops would be difficult to defeat (mainly due to their numbers), they do lack in technology, but there is power in numbers.

Now let's pretend that America defeated the entire PLA army, Most likely what would happen is that the U.S. would try to start a democratic government in mainland china. This would definately be met with opposition from the Chinese Locals. Do you think that the American forces could stop the violence in China? (by stop I mean like what they are trying to do in Iraq).

Iraq has about 30 million people? China is far bigger (1.3 BLN), area-wise and population-wise. Most of the population is of one ethnicity (Han 92% so there wouldn't be a lot of racial wars). Do you think the American military would be successful in occupying China
