Could 24 Work as a Movie Franchise

I wasn't sure whether to post this in Cult or Movies threat so hope i got it right, :o

Now that 24 has been cancelled, as a TV show, Kiefer Sutherland, Jack Bauer himself has confirmed that 24 will now be made into a Movie Franchise, so we should see at least 2 or 3 films based on 24.

Can it work bearing in mind the representation of Realtime is based about 2 hours freeing up a lot of space for artistic liscence on it. Looking forward to seeing your views from fellow 24 fans ;)
 
Is it gonna be too similar to die hard though? i will go and watch it, that is certain but i can`t think what storyline they`ll go with. 24 has been going 8 years so how many other terrorist plots can they come up before it starts repeating its self.
 
I disagree with that, I'd say it was by the end of Series 5, to be honest.

Assassination Plot,
Nuclear Bomb
Biological Threat,
Nuclear Meltdown, yes that goes by the nuclear theme but all the same the real threat was a nuclear missile. Then of course the Chinese plot comes in for the first time.
Neurological Threat. Nerve Gas.
Season 6 was the worst for repeating itself, a lot of the plot were recycled and I guess that's when it all started
But already by then the show was reinventing itself, taking Jack out of L.A. which meant the show was already doing new things. So even in the plot recycling the show has always managed to stay fresh.
