I had some infection in the throat a week ago. In 2-3 days, it was gone. Usually when I have infection, I start coughing and this coughing is gone in 2-3 days after infection. This time coughing is still around and strong. It starts anytime during the day. Today in the night, I started coughing. How to get rid of this coughing permanently ?
 
A residual cough from an infection can hang on for weeks.

If you have drainage in throat, try taking Mucinex to help thin the mucous.

If you have a dry cough, I find tht Halls Cough Drops work well.

Many times it takes a long time for the irritation to go away.
