Cost to start a business.?

I am interested in starting a small retail business and would like a idea of how much money it would require. I understand that there are many different components that factor into the finances but I would be very grateful for a rough estimate being that I am completely clueless as to how much this would cost. For those of you that have an idea, are we talking just a few thousand dollars or 20 thousand+? Thank you for your time!
 
You need to do a serious business plan for 3 to 5 years by year. Put down all the costs, when you need to expend, expected sales...in detail. Consult a good accountant. It will save your shirt!!
