Cost to fix a 1987 Cadillac Seville fuel pump?

I'm checking out a 1987 Cadillac Seville for sale for $500.00. The seller says it needs a new fuel pump. I'm currently running the VIN on the computer and waiting for an answer; in the meantime, I thought I'd run a query here to see if anyone can give me an estimate as to how much it would cost to repair, parts & labor?
pedro, I don't necessarily believe the seller, which is why I am running the VIN, and a mechanic friend of mine will accompany me to check out any car I'm interested in...however, being all-too-familiar with "nightmare fixes," (1989 Cutlass Calais, YIKES, 'nuff said!) I am going to pass on the Seville based on the fact that the tank has to be pulled to access the pump. That's the info I was looking for. THANKS, GUYS!! 400 to 500 pump is in gas tank.....has to be removed to fix

any why do you believe the seller? you will be pissed if you put in a new pump and it was something else..ive seen it 100 times..
 
Do yourself a big FAVOR, and walk away from this thing altogether. These engines were trouble on the drawing board, in production, and in REALITY! THe fuel pump is inconveniently located within the fuel tank, so the tank must be dropped to service it. READ the previous answer!! If the seller can get it running for you, offer him $550. Other than that, WALK AWAY, RENEE!!
