Consider ring of ants in a circle with a diameter of 300 m where each ant is 3 mm across from each other. Ants have collected all food they could and carried it to their circle. They would like to distribute this food evenly amongst all ants. For purposes of this analogy, let us suppose that ants are blind and can only communicate with their immediate neighbors.
a. if each ant can pass any or all of its food to a neighbor in 1 second, how long will it take for each ant to pass its food to another ant on the opposite side of circle?
b. explain what is wrong with the following reasoning. Each ant can pass food to its neighbor in 1 second- so ants can actually distribute their food evenly over that very short amount of time: one ant passes to its neighbor with least amount of food, the next to its neighbor with the least amount of food, etc.
c. Relate this example to COSMOLOGY.
