Cosigner defaulted on loan, other person paid off the car...now the first cosigner...

...won't sign the title over..? My mom cosigned on a car loan for my nephew (we know, bad move - no lecture required =) ). My nephew got in an accident and did not have the appropriate coverage. My nephew stopped making payments on the car, which I took over because mom is on a fixed income. I am in the process of getting the car fixed, in an effort to attempt to recoup our losses. Now the ungrateful punk is refusing to sign the title. What can we do?
 
Nothing, if you co-sign this is what happens. dump the car and the payments and take the hit. why pay to fix then pay off a car that isnt yours. if he's a jerk he could take back the car once it is fixed. BTW what financial institution lonas people money and doesnt require full coverage insurance?
