I wrote a piece of music inspired by a poem by a somewhat famous author, so they ARE related. In the piece, it's entirely instrumental, but the rhythm of the first section of the piece is loosely the same rhythms as the words of the poem - so it COULD be performed with someone singing the poem. This is just the introduction of the piece, not the whole thing.
If it WAS performed with someone singing the poem, I would definitely always give credit to the poet, and say something to the audience.
The title is one word (like a normal word in the dictionary) and I read that you can't copyright a word....
So are there any copyright problems with naming the piece after the poem?
Thanks for your time, and if you can, please let me know HOW you know what you know (link, or something about where you got your information) Thank you!!
