Copy and Paste...Pictures-- Possible?

I've noticed you can copy and paste text and text withing the Gmail app in froyo; but is it possible to copy pictures and pasting across apps, etc?

just had to get this question out of my head..since android is open source. wonder why copy and paste is such a downfall...

I have an email with a .gif picure visible in it. When I tap on it the options show preview and download only. No copy/paste for pictures under FroYo either. Text copy/paste works great.
