Cops Can Now Barge Into My House Without Warrant If They Supposedly Smell Weed?!?

Supposedly there's a new law that says if cops smell weed they can barge into your house without a search warrant, guns loaded and everything. It happened in a couple of states already, but which states does this affect? Is it all of the U.S? Or just some states? Please help ASAP!

That's been the case for years - if they suspect a crime is in progress, they can investigate immediately without waiting for a warrant. That happened in Los Angeles while I was there in the 1960s and the cops could actually see the perp inside, flushing the weed down the crapper while they waited for hours for an "emergency writ" so they could go inside and stop him before all the evidence was gone.

"Now"? Where did you hear THAT piece of utter nonsense?

The Police have ALWAYS had the right to "barge into your house" without a Warrant if they have Probable Cause, silly goose....they only need a Warrant if there IS no obvious Probable Cause......otherwise what you are suggesting is that if a passing Officer catches a glimpse of an armed intruder strangling your children through a window, before that Officer enters your house they must drive back to the Courthouse and get a Warrant issued!

Stop "learning about the Law" from bad TV shows!

Smelling weed is Probable Cause...

WOW! This shows how clueless you really are.

They CANNOT just barge in for only smelling someone smoking weed. The case I think you are referring to is Kentucky v. King, and there was a lot more involved than just smelling weed.

Read the case before you start jerking your knees.
