Cooking a Hamburger indoors?

Which is a better choice; pan frying on the stove top or broiling in the oven?

I don't need seasoning advice, I just want to know the cooking process.
And if you could explain how YOU would do it. Thanks. (:

Personally. I would choose the pan frying. There's just something about the taste that happens to the beef as the outside cooks and get caramelized. Broiling in the oven is also ok, and probably a bit healthier, but it just doesn't create the great flavor that frying a hamburger gives.

I would use an indoor grill if you don't have the option of using a bbg. But if these are your only two options i'd go with broiling. the fat from the burger needs to run off or you'll be left with a very greasy dinner.
and usually the broiler pan is a grill type tray with a tray under it to catch the grease.
If you're going to use the broil setting on your oven than be very careful and stay right beside it. Things burn FAST under that kinda heat. I might try for 12 min total. flip once half way thru.

I'd probably just do it in a pan on the stove. Would be healthier to broil, but I'd rather wash a pan than a broiler pan!! Lazy! I would probably just put some salt and pepper on it. Cook on medium heat, flipping a couple times until done.
Enjoy it!

Either way will work fine. A broiler is basically just an upside down grill anyway so if you like your burgers grilled then go with that method. I think frying in a pan is a little more forgiving though so if you are not great at knowing when to remove it from the heat then pan frying might be better for you.

For me, I would broil.

I do both, I sear them in an ovenproof pan on the stove top on both sides, then slide it in a 375 degree oven and roast them to desired doneness, 5 to 7 minutes for medium-rare Enjoy! =]
