convincing my dad to let me buy a dirt-bike?

How would be the best way to convince my dad to let me buy a dirt-bike? Ive already found one and am supposed to go with my brother to look at it later today. its priced well and i am prepared to buy it. i wasn't even going to say anything to my dad but my brother thinks it would be better to talk to him about it before i bringing it home. any suggestions on how to strike up a conversation and how to convince him??

I would be paying with for it with my own hard-earned money (i do not get an allowance)
I am 18
I make good grades (have the hope scholarship)

its a DIRT bike therefore i wont be driving on the road and dont need to worry about cars killing me but thanks
